Club 15 Christmas meal 2019 – report

On Sunday 15th December a group of 20 or more gathered at The Bird In Hand in Little Sandhurst. We were bidden to arrive before 6.30 as that was the time for food to be served. As we were the only group in, we had plenty of space and as coats were removed it was obvious that the Christmas spirit was alive and well; novelty jumpers were in abundance and plenty of glitz and glitter too. Crackers to be pulled and crowns adjusted, groans over the jokes.

The noise of chatter built up then at 6.30 it rapidly subsided, FOOD WAS BEING SERVED. For a while the only sounds were “mmm mine’s lovely, how about yours?”

As the starters were finished the noise of chatter built up again, then plates were cleared and the main courses arrived, what a feast! There was turkey in abundance but other dishes too, vegetarian, spicy monk fish stew, slow cooked brisket of beef and those are just the ones I can remember. This food was enjoyed by all, I think someone even had a doggy bag, but I maybe wrong on that.

After the plates were cleared away we had a bit of a break before desserts, to catch up on how folk were and what they were doing over the holiday period, including a wedding for some! Then the desserts were served and enjoyed, some were a real work of art, I don’t know if anyone had space for tea or coffee afterwards but all agreed a good time was had by all.

Very many thanks to Sue T. for organising it again this year (she gave us each a strip of paper with our choices on them, when we arrived, in case anyone had forgotten).

If you’re starting to organise your diary for 2020, put in Tuesday 15th December, guess why?

Thanks again Sue from us all.
