Circuit Quiz 7th September 2024
On Saturday 7th September, Crowthorne Methodist Church hosted a Circuit Quiz in aid of Action for Children. Mike Gardner was the Quiz Master and did an excellent job.
The team from SYMC consisted of Robert, Graham and Alison, Mary and Anton and Ray and Keg. We were so slow in choosing a name for our Team that Mike gave us a name: ‘The Ditherers’!
There were seven teams in total: The Berkshire Brains, Football Free Zone, The Ditherers, Shopaholics, The Optimists and Haven’t a Clue.
There were 8 tough rounds: Starter for Ten, Fairy Stories, Human Anatomy, TV Ministers, Board Games, Olympic Flags, Spot the Intro and On this Day.
We played our Joker on the 3rd round – Human Anatomy but only scored 7.5 out of 10 and therefore 15 out of a possible 20 points, as the Joker doubled our score.
We did however get 10 out of 10 on the Spot the Intro round later in the evening.
After 4 rounds and the half way mark, we all enjoyed a Ploughman’s dinner with finger cakes for pudding. Maggy and Ros (from Crowthorne) had done the catering and what a feast we had!
At the end of the quiz The Ditherers came a respectable 4th place. Shame we didn’t play the Joker on the Spot the Intro as we would have scored 5 more points which would have made us the winning team!!!
Anyhow, it was great entertainment and the evening raised an amazing £380 (profit) for Action for children.
Thanks to Maggy and Ros for the delicious supper and setting everything up, and to Mike for being such an eccentric Quiz Master!!!
