Friends of the Earth

Hi,

We are all concerned with the future of our planet and the impact climate change will have on all of us. We cannot choose to deny it or settle into despair, we can take direct local action to highlight the need for climate action.

From the 31st October to 12th November 2021, the UK is co-hosting the 26th Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 26) in Glasgow, where the future of climate action will be discussed.

Environmental groups across the country, including Christian groups such as Christian Aid, are co-ordinating actions to highlight the urgency of the climate and ecological crisis to the world leaders.

We at Blackwater Valley Friends of the Earth want to provide an opportunity for all groups, churches and people in our local area who want to tackle climate change, to join us in our local campaign – therefore we are contacting you.

Blackwater Valley FoE are planning a march and silent vigil on Saturday 6th November 2021. We will be walking from Aldershot High Street to Farnborough Town Centre, stopping for a silent vigil at Farnborough Airfield.

We will spotlight our message to the COP 26 leaders, such as:

No more investment in fossil fuels.

Stop all oil and gas extraction in the North Sea and across the UK in a way that is just to workers.

End all coal mining.

We are inviting your Church to join us on this day to bring your own message to leaders; because the more of us there are, the more of an impact there will be. We need to unite to push our leaders to bring climate change action to the top of their Agenda.
