Pidgeon Pea Success!

for Christian Aid Week 14th – 20th May

You may remember a few Christian Aid weeks ago (before the pandemic) Christian Aid reported on how its partners in Malawi were encouraging farmers to plant Pidgeon Peas. With deep roots, these peas can better withstand droughts & flooding that is happening more often due to Climate Change.

The results are now in, and Pidgeon Peas are a great success. Farmers have formed co-operatives to help themselves deal fairly with customers and suppliers. The quality of seeds as improved and warehouses built to better store the peas with protection against weather events. Some are even adding value by using pea flour to bake bread and rolls for sale in their community.

So there is now send money available to send children to school, start new businesses and help friends & family.

Your donations helped this happen.
