Walking during the pandemic

One of the really positive things about the last few months has been going out on walks and meeting lots of people on the way. Even when we were restricted to our own household you’d inevitably pass others (known and unknown) and exchange smiles or a few pleasant words. It makes you realise just how lucky we are to have such a variety of walks on our doorstep and thank God for the beautiful weather we have had during lockdown.

I have enjoyed lots of walks with others since restrictions were lifted but the ones I’ll probably remember most are those with young Matt. Several of these were round Swan Lake – a new discovery during lockdown. Over the course of the walks, time flew by as we appreciated nature and put the world to rights. On one such walk we came across a rope swing over the river. Matt, being more daring than I, and a lot younger, tried it out.

I hope that after this current situation has passed that we will remember to take the time to speak to others, to be more thoughtful and caring and to appreciate our freedom.
