Action for Children Sponsored Walk Saturday 10th September 2022 – report

It was a bright but cool and pleasant morning to herald the start of our walk around Virginia Water. Margaret Hunt and myself,  representing Sandhurst and Yateley church, gathered with about 12 others from both The Pines, Bracknell and Crowthorne Methodist Church, as well as a number of dogs ,to walk the 4.5 miles around the lake. Maggie and Colin Garton  informed me that this was a first for any members from our church to take part in this walk. So perhaps a few more of you  might be up for joining me for the challenge  next year? We were joined by Sharon and Mike Gardner and their dogs , who were also doing this walk for charity for the first time. Our ages ranged from a six year old girl to quite elderly. It was a pleasant amble with a short stop at the refreshment stall for those needing a little pick me up to keep going.

The morning passed pleasantly as the sun came out later on to warm us all up. lt was also a good chance to chat and get to know a number of Crowthorne church members. We arrived at the Totem Pole, the planned stop for lunch, to find it fenced off. So we moved location and enjoyed our lunch at a nearby picnic area together.

Many thanks to all you kind people who have sponsored me in raising money for The Action for Children charity.  l have raised around £300 for this worthy cause.

Heather.
