Christian Aid Quiz – report

This year was the 12th year that Sandhurst Churches Together had held a quiz in aid of Christian Aid (apart from the two years we had to cancel due to the pandemic).

It was great to meet together again and Wilf and Pam’s questions, as fabulous Quizmasters, certainly got the old grey matter working overtime!

There were teams from St George’s, the Yateley Team, a team entirely of Methodists and one ecumenical team of Methodists and Baptists.  SYMC was well represented, so thank you folks.

We all enjoyed the ice-breaker quiz and then onto the harder questions …..  We had a break to enjoy our suppers .. and Wilf spoke a little of the work of Christian Aid and how the proceeds of the quiz would be spent ….and then on again for the second half of yet more challenging questions!

The Yateley Team won, as they usually do, so well done them! Pam gave each member of the Team a kit-kat as a prize. The quiz was fun, the atmosphere relaxed and a good time was had by all.

The suppers were delivered from the Golden Fry in Crowthorne who gave us a discount in view of the event being a fundraising event for charity, so after paying for the suppers, we made £70.  The raffle raised £58.  St George’s didn’t charge us for the use of their Sanctuary and we are very grateful for their kindness, and also to the Team who then put the sanctuary in order after the quiz, for their service in the morning.

A grand total of £128 was raised for Christian Aid – which is superb.

So many thanks to all who came and supported the quiz and especially to Wilf and Pam for producing and presenting the Quiz.  We’ll do it all again next year!
