The Cross has been bare for the last few Sundays. It has been decorated each week with one item from the Easter Story: The 30 pieces of silver, the Cockerel, the purple robe, the crown of thorns, the scourge and finally the sponge. It has been a stark reminder of what that cross represented, the pain, the humiliation, the degradation, the betrayal, the anguish. However, today we decorated the cross with flowers, the cross blossomed as we remember the victory that Jesus had over death, the accomplishment of the mission he had been given, the love He and His Father in Heaven had shown to all us all, then and in every age since. The Cross. The Victory. For Us. May the blessings of this Easter be ours throughout the year.
