Messy Easter 2025
This year we welcomed 33 children and their grown ups to our Messy Easter. There were lots of fun things to do including making Easter baskets, scratch cards, stickers of the Easter scene, Easter crafts, and noisy games.
The children gathered around Sandra, as usual, who seems to have taken over the role of making yummy crafts appropriate to the season. She helped the children to make a tomb scene with biscuits, mini eggs and green icing.
Heather, our resident Artist made a wonderful poster for Easter and the children enjoyed colouring this in. This was then taped to our Communion table for everyone to enjoy in the service the next day.
We were very grateful to Wendy and Cynthia who both did a wonderful job keeping us all hydrated with tea, coffee and squash, and handed out hot cross buns (delicious!).
After the crafts we went through to the church where Alice had hidden plastic Easter eggs. As always, the children loved foraging around the church for the eggs, they even found some of the gold coins that the Wise Men had lost at Christmas! The plastic eggs were then swapped for little chocolate eggs kindly given out by Sharon.
We watched a video of the Easter story which was acted out by children, it was fun but also told the story of Jesus and how he was crucified and yet came alive. We sung a couple of songs with actions and ended with Sharon saying a prayer.
What a lovely way of spending an afternoon. Everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves. After clearing up we went home for a well earned rest!.
