Sandhurst and Yateley Methodist Church – 120 years old this May! (2026)

120th Church Anniversary Service, led by Rev. Dr. John Amankwatia at 10.30am.
Followed by a bring and share lunch starting at 12.30, (to allow those coming from other churches time to join us.)
Followed at 14.30 by a Celebration play
“Six Score Years – A Wesleyan Anniversary”. It will allow attendees to find out more about Sandhurst, The Church and the Country, and is performed by a number of members of the congregation and written & directed by Douglas Brown.
All are Welcome to join us for all or any part of the day.

And… from Douglas
Dr James Russell MD (1851–1933) was many things: Medical Officer to East Hampstead RDC, possibly Sandhurst’s first GP, and the first chairman of Sandhurst Parish Council. He also donated the land on which our church was built.
For this last reason, I made him the protagonist of my play about our church’s history since its opening on 2nd May 1906. I tried to imagine him following our church’s history from that date to today: its 120th Anniversary. How would he react to the way his church developed? How would he sum up its history?
Come along on 10th May 2026 and find out. Some details may surprise you.
