World Day of Prayer 2019 and onwards

I am writing this article having just attended a preparation day for next year’s WDP (World Day of Prayer) as prepared by the Women of the world, but now dropping the first W in order to encompass all people. This was an uplifting day centred on the theme of “All are welcome”. Woking URC helped us understand the broad subject as well as their own minister giving an insightful talk on the topic.

I have been a representative for this organisation going back a VERY long time, to my days when l went to Trinity Church back in Yateley village hall. So after l left there, and was trying decide where to continue worshipping, the then committee requested me to carry on with them, even though I did not belong to any church. After that I decided to join S&YMC and carried on as the representative as there was no regular representative from there. I then managed to co-opt on Rosemary G to help and she kindly took over as secretary for a number of years. Since she left some little while ago nobody has stepped forward to replace her, so l have been our sole representative.

The job entails a few meetings per year to sort out the running of the service in March and helping with the running of the Christian Aid soup lunch in May. It also encourages us to learn about the Women of the world and their geographical environment. As well as learning about costumes, new recipes and dramatic interpretation of Bible passages.

I am hoping that someone would be kind enough to step forward to replace me after about 25 years of service l feel it is time for fresh blood. As we are the only non Catholic or Church of England representative on the ecumenical Sandhurst and Yateley group, our input is vital to keep the group going. So please if anyone feels led to help out the group it would be a welcome reprieve for our local WDP.

Obviously l am happy to talk to anyone considering the role.

Please prayerfully consider this request

Yours in Christ
