11 of us were at Highcliffe on Sunday 15th July. Most went to the service first where Diana was preaching.

It was another very hot day and we were grateful for the gazebo brought and erected by Jack and Ann that provided welcome shade.

We started with the picnic, with lovely views of the Isle of Wight, and (of course) a rescue—this time of a boat. Then 7 walked along the coast path and beach to Highcliffe Castle to meet the others for afternoon tea. They were setting up for an open-air production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the audience were already taking their places on the rather yellow grass.

Back to Diana’s, along the road and visiting the graveyard of the parish church where members of the Selfridge family are buried along the way, and taking a sneaky shortcut along the side of the Methodist Church.

What a lovely place to live—there’s even, if you stretch on tiptoes, a view of the Needles from the balcony.
