Harvest Supper 2018

Eighteen of us (including a couple of friends from Bagshot Methodist Church) sat down to Harvest Supper on Saturday 6 October and proceedings began with a Ploughman’s – well, that was the official description but I doubt that anyone going ploughing was ever given such a good choice of food! Excellent stuff and enjoyed by all. Before we could attack the desserts there was half of Karen’s very varied quiz to be done for which we divided into four teams. We named ourselves The Quartet, The Harvest Helpers, The Dithering Dimwits (at least I think that’s what they called themselves) and The 103 Club – there are no prizes for guessing who was a member of that one. Amid quite a bit of banter we got through four rounds with 103 Club in the lead.

And so to the desserts, devoured with some gusto, and cups of tea. At this point 103 Club were keen to finish the quiz there and then (quit while you’re winning) but no, everyone else reckoned we should carry on for the other four rounds which Karen had prepared and which were just as interesting as the first half. The Harvest Helpers nobly pulled out of the contest early in order to do the washing up so the remaining teams battled it out to the bitter end where 103 Club had extended their lead and so were the winners.

Our thanks to all who helped prepare the food and did the washing up, also to Karen for the quiz and to all who came along. A really good time was had by all.
