Yateley Choral Society 22/3/25 – concert of the year!

On March 22nd the Royal Memorial Chapel Choir combined with Yateley Choral Society to perform the first public concert at the Royal Memorial Chapel, Sandhurst since the pandemic.

With Simon Dinsdale at the fabulous Chapel organ, it was an evening of superlatives. The main works were the Vierne’s Mass and Faure’s Requiem. Both written at the end of the 19th century, the Vierne is forceful & dramatic while the Faure is full of many well-known tunes. The choirs brought this out very well whilst the soloists were superb, with the Requiem’s “Pie Jesu” being particularly poignant.

It was good to see the audience packing the Chapel and the 70 strong choir using the Chapel’s acoustics to create a wall of sound. It was an evening that will long live in the memory.
